All the Labco network's members are celebrating the 5th anniversary of Labco. Indeed, on the 24th of June 2004, a group of biologists and managers decided to take the chance and create what was to become the first pan-European diagnostics network.

AescuLabor, a lab based in Karlsruhe (Germany), is being integrated within the Labco network, after six regional laboratories already acquired in 2008.

As every year took place in Paris the JIB’s (journées internationales de biologie / clinical chemistru international congress). And as usual, Labco was present during this event to meet the main players of the laboratory medicine sector, in France and throughout Europe.

To support the network’s growth, Labco is hiring more and more, adding to our staff new skills and expertise. Especially, we are welcoming now Michel Govaerts, joining Labco as COO (chief operating officer). New recruitments will take place during end 2008 and 2009 to strengthen our teams.

The reform of the sector was planned long ago, as the main regulatory frame dates from 1975. But as the different actors of the profession and players of the market are divided on some aspects of this reform, it might take some time to succeed. Labco stated its position by launching a press release in France.

Labco organized this year’s Partners Meeting in Barcelona, and the event was hosted by our local partners of General Lab. This event, designed to enable all the Labco partners to meet, gathered almost 200 participants.

Labco has integrated four new subsidiaries located in Germany and France.

Beside the development of the network, ensuring external growth, Labco enhances its integration activities, bringing organic growth. And this integration process is particularly strategic in Iberia, where General Lab and Sampletest are complementarily positioned.

Labco announces that it has made a series of acquisitions in Europe cementing its position as the clear leader in the European diagnostics market. These acquisitions follow the company’s successful €728 million financing announced last week. Laboratories integrating Labco are located in Germay, Italy, and especially Portugal, with Sampletest joining the network, an Iberian leader of the market.

Four years ago, the Labco network was born of the union of a few healthcare professionals in France. Of course, the creation of the network and its growth strategy were planned previously. But that day truly marked the birth of a project that now succeeded in whole Europe, thanks to a few ones’ belief and commitment.

This month took place in Milan the first congress focusing on “the role of laboratory medicine in preventive and predictive medicine”, organized by Labco and with the help of our local partner, CAM (Centro Analisi Monza). The congress gathered up to 150 participants during two days.
